Steven Gerrard's Potential Switch to Celtic Is 'Very Probable' Says Bhoys Legend

Celtic legend Andy Lynch has claimed that a potential transfer for Steven Gerrard to his former club is 'very probable' and 'not just a rumour.'

The 36-year-old is expected to leave the MLS when his contract at LA Galaxy expires, with Celtic currently leading the race for the former England captain's signature.

Lynch believes that Gerrard would be happy to move to Celtic as they are a club 'he supported' as a youngster.

Speaking to the "?Daily Record, he said: "When you hear stories about really big names coming to play in Scotland you usually think "?Ah, they'd never be able to get him' but in this case it's not such an outlandish idea,

"I don't think it's outrageous at all, or just another rumour. I think it could be very probable to see Steven Gerrard at Celtic.

"If he has decided to come back "? and I've read he wants to get into coaching too "? Celtic would be a perfect fit for him.

"The decisive factor could be that he is a real Celtic man. That took me by surprise when I met him at half-time during a Liverpool game at Stoke.

"It was him who brought up the subject of Celtic and you could see he was pretty excited talking about it. He said "?that's my team, that's who I support.'

"Obviously, I'm sure he's got a great love for Liverpool and I'm not saying Celtic would have been a greater love. But he was very adamant about his passion for Celtic and said whenever he gets opportunities he would come up and see them because that was his team when he was younger.

"I was surprised how passionate he was so it's not so outrageous to think he'd choose to come here. Especially now Brendan is there and perhaps with a coaching role added as a sweetener, I don't think it's an impossible dream for Celtic fans."?

A switch would see Gerrard reunite with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers, and Lynch has already worked out where the England legend would slot into Celtic's midfield.

He added: "He would be ideal to go into the middle and ease some of the responsibility on Scott Brown. It seems to me Brown has too much on his plate a lot of times, too much is expected from him,

"That would make a heck of a difference in going for the latter stages in Europe. Imagine if Gerrard's fit and in the middle with Brown you start thinking this could be a very good team."?
