Steven Gerrard questions Richarlison’s place as Tottenham future remains uncertain

Former Liverpool midfielder and football pundit Steven Gerrard has rejected sympathy for Tottenham forward Richarlison, saying the Brazil international does not deserve to be playing at present.

Richarlison was left out of Tottenham’s squad at the beginning of the season after asking to leave the club. However, his proposed departure ultimately fell through, with the forward blamed for disrupting two deals at the last moment.

“There is no need to feel sorry for Richarlison. He does not deserve to play,” Gerrard said while discussing the situation surrounding the Tottenham striker.

Gerrard believes Tottenham are currently in a strong position in terms of their squad. However, he argued that the team could challenge for significantly more if they had a forward of Harry Kane’s quality.

The former Liverpool player’s comments come with Richarlison’s current Tottenham contract due to expire at the end of the season. The club could therefore look to part company with the Brazilian when the transfer window reopens in January.
