State FA Cup: Sporting Lagos scale through to last 8

Nigeria Premier Football League side, Sporting Lagos had to dig deep to win on penalties to progress to the quarter finals of the Lagos State FA Cup on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Sporting Lagos had to come from behind twice at both halves in the round of 16 clash to play 2-2 at regulation time before edging Broad City FC 5-4 on penalties at Onikan Stadium.

The National League One side had taken the lead on 14 minute before Naibe Akpesiri drew the Tech Boys level with a cheeky finish on 38 minute as the first half ended 1-1.

Broad City recovered the lead 5 minutes after the restart of the game, but Ekene Olisema rose highest to nod home a good corner from Chinedu Ufere to put the encounter at equilibrium 16 minutes later.

At the end of 90 minutes and additional time, there was nothing to choose between the two sides as the game headed into penalties.

Junior Lokosa took the decisive penalty to give the Noisy Lagosians the win which ensure they progress to the next round of the competition.
