The Sports Ministry has told handlers of the Ghana U23 team that there is no budget for foreign-based players for next month’s All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
Head coach Malik Jabir wants to hand up call-ups to players overseas to strengthen his side for the football tournament at the multi-sport event.
“The ministry told the Ghana FA that there is no money to fly in foreign-based players so the team will travel to Congo without them,” a source close to the tea told GHANASoccernet.com.
The Black Meteors are in a tough Group alongside Senegal, Egypt and Nigeria in Group B.
Ghana are bent on winning a second consecutive gold medal after beating South Africa on penalties for that historic feat in Maputo four years ago.
