Sporting Lagos beat Inter Lagos 3-0 in the Lagos derby at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on Sunday, while Barau FC continued their unbeaten start with a 3-1 victory over Ranchers Bees in Kano.
Sodiq Ayoade gave Sporting Lagos the lead in the seventh minute before Aliyu Baba added a second after half-time. Valentine Ogwu completed the scoring as Sporting Lagos secured a comfortable derby win.
Barau FC also claimed three points at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where Ahmadu Liman put the hosts ahead shortly before the half-hour mark.
Ranchers Bees drew level with 10 minutes remaining through Mohammed Rabiu Zulkifilu. The goal was Zulkifilu’s fourth of the season.
Kennedy Otunuya restored Barau FC’s lead late in the match, before Sugau Aliyu added a third to confirm the victory and preserve the hosts’ unbeaten record.
Abia Warriors held in Aba
Abia Warriors and Ikorodu City shared four goals in an entertaining 2-2 draw in Aba.
Emeka Obioma scored both goals for Abia Warriors, while Ilechukwu Junior and Akorede Adeoye found the net for Ikorodu City.
There was also a high-scoring contest at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, where Bendel Insurance defeated Kun Khalifat FC 4-2.
Bendel Insurance established a three-goal advantage through Alex Oweilayefa, Suraju Lawal and Chinedu Nwosu.
Kun Khalifat FC pulled one back in the 68th minute after Uchechukwu Onuoha converted a penalty. Nwosu responded three minutes later to restore the hosts’ three-goal cushion.
Oghenetega Ebetomame scored again for the visitors five minutes before full time, but Bendel Insurance held on to claim the win.
Kwara United recorded a 3-0 victory against Katsina United in Ilorin.
Ali Ferinayo opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, with Tosin Olawale and Issa Gata adding further goals after the interval to complete the result for Kwara United.
