MLS side Sporting Kansas City are refusing to confirm whether they are taking former Sunderland centre-back John Mensah on trial this month.
This comes after widespread reports this week that the American side could move to Sporting Kansas City this summer.
The media reported that the 32-year-old Ghanaian is the subject of interest from Sporting, and will undergo a trial with the club imminently.
However despite several requests from the media for the confirmation of the move, Sporting Kansas City has not responded.
Mensah boasts a wealth of experience, having captained Ghana to a quarter-final appearance at the 2010 World Cup.
The defender, who has played in France with Rennes and Lyon, has been without a club since leaving Slovakian side FC Nitra last year, but is believed to be keen to reclaim his spot in the Ghanaian national side.
Kansas are currently sixth in the MLS' Eastern Conference.
Mensah, 32, has played over 80 times for Ghana and is a veteran of two World Cups, four African Cups of Nations and one Olympic soccer tournament.
He captained the Black Stars to a quarterfinal finish in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, beating the United States, 2-1 in the Round of 16, along the way.
He also played all 90 minutes in Ghana's 2-1 defeat of the United States in the group stage of the 2006 World Cup.
Mensah's club career has taken him to Italy, France, Switzerland, his native Ghana, and most recently Slovakia. Some of his notable clubs include Lyon, Sunderland, Rennes and Chievo Verona.
The report also claims that Mensah is garnering interest from clubs in the Middle East, and that he will be using any potential move to help reclaim his place in the Ghana national team picture.
Sporting currently sit sixth in the Western Conference, with 27 points from 16 games played.
