Sporting CP midfielder Issa Doumbia attracts interest from AS Roma and Juventus

Issa Doumbia’s performance for Italy against Turkey has reportedly caught the attention of Serie A clubs AS Roma and Juventus.

The Sporting CP midfielder impressed scouts from both clubs during the international fixture at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, according to journalist Ekrem Konur. His display could increase interest in the 22-year-old, who is of Ivorian origin but plays for Italy.

Doumbia is under contract with Sporting CP until 30 June 2031 and has an €80m release clause. The figure reflects the Portuguese club’s confidence in the midfielder and places Sporting CP in a strong negotiating position should either Italian club decide to make a formal approach.

The Lisbon-based side is keen to retain Doumbia and is not expected to make his departure straightforward. AS Roma and Juventus are therefore likely to continue monitoring his progress rather than immediately submitting an offer.

The player’s international performance may lead to a rapid rise in his market value, although his long-term contract and substantial release clause represent significant obstacles for potential suitors. Sporting CP intends to continue Doumbia’s development at the club rather than respond easily to outside interest.

Transfermarkt currently values the midfielder at €20m, well below the €80m figure included in his contract.

Sporting CP’s next fixture will be away to Braga in the eighth round of the Portuguese league. The match odds listed by 1xbet are 3.45 for a Braga victory, 3.30 for a draw and 1.87 for a Sporting CP win.
