Sporting CP and Galatasaray are level at 1-1 at half-time in their UEFA Champions League league-phase meeting at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Galatasaray made the stronger start on Wednesday evening and took the lead after only six minutes. Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net, handing the Turkish side an early advantage and putting the visitors in control of the opening stages.
The hosts were forced to respond, but they restored parity before the break when Geny Catamo scored in the 27th minute. His goal brought Sporting CP back into the contest and ensured the two teams went into the dressing rooms level after the first 45 minutes.

Galatasaray, meanwhile, will aim to regain the initiative they established in the opening minutes. After taking the lead through Goncalo Inacio’s own goal, the visitors will need to respond to Sporting CP’s equaliser if they are to restore their advantage.
The teams therefore begin the second half with the outcome still entirely undecided. Sporting CP have recovered from a difficult opening, while Galatasaray can draw encouragement from the way they started the contest and from the fact that they struck first.
