Gift Monday in action against Levante

Nigeria's Gift Monday has opened her goal scoring account in the Spanish Iberdrola after her goals against Levante Las Planas on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Monday scored twice as Tenerife edged it over Levante by three goals to two at Les Planes Camp Municipal, the home of Levante.

The Super Falcons forward opened score in the 21st minute for the guests after a pass from teammate, Paola Hernandez to score her first goal of the season.

The Hosts were levelled 11 minutes later after thanks to Gavira Collado’s unfortunate own goal which ended the first 45 1-1.

Monday would put her team back in the lead 17 minutes into the second phase of the game after the Nigerian connected well to the pass of Ivory Coast forward, Koko.

The Host once again found their way back to the game after Uribe Garcia's equaliser in the 82nd minute put score at 2-2.

However, Jassina Blom's goal from the penalty spot ensure the visiting team got the maximum points at the dead of the game.

Gift Monday was in action for the entire duration of the game. Her compatriot, Ngozi Okobi and Rita Chikwelu were 67th and 83rd minutes substitutes respectively for Las Planas.

The win takes Tenerife to 6th on the log with 36 points, 2 points better than 7th place Sevilla that have a game in hand while their opponents are 11th on the log with 20 points.
