President of the Remo Stars and Beyond Limit, Honourable Kunle Soname has stated the two clubs will participate in the Nigeria Premier Football League next season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
This follows the debate of one owner having two teams in the league after Beyond Limit Football Academy secured a place in next season's NPFL from the Nigeria National League.
Many have questioned the ethical nature of the two teams owned by Soname in the same league, but the football administrator is of the opinion that no ethical standard will be breached as long Nigeria is concerned if the two clubs play in the league.
He cites examples of an existing status quo and also uses clubs playing against their Junior teams (Feeders) in the President Federation Cup to justify the participation of his two clubs has acceptable.
"We strive to be professional. We know what is right and what is wrong. For us as far as Nigeria is concerned examples abound, we have Abia Warriors and Enyimba competing in the same league, the same financiers."
"In the Federation Cup, Beyond Limit played and Remo Stars played, the two teams even played in the semi final of the tournament. Bendel Insurance and Bendel Feeders played in their final (state FA Cup). So I'm not sure it's running foul on any law in Nigeria because if it is that would have stopped. All teams have their feeders team and they both play together in the FA Cup."
It is yet to be seen the decision the Nigeria Premier Football League management will take concerning the issue after the end of the 2023/2024 season which ends this week.
