Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer has promised exciting youngster Shola Shoretire more playing time provided he keeps improving.

Shoretire made his debut after coming on for Marcus Rashford in United’s 3-1 win against Newcastle on Sunday.

At 17 years and 19 days, Shoretire became the second-youngest player to represent the Reds in the Premier League, with only Angel Gomes doing so at a younger age.

Speaking after the Newcastle game, Solskjaer was full of praise for the midfielder, and believes fans will see lots of him in the future.

“Shola is going to play many games for us if he keeps doing what he’s doing. He’s training well, and he’s a good boy with a good head on him.”

The diminutive midfielder impressed with the few touches he had after coming on against the Magpies – a club he previously represented at a young age.

He was included among United’s substitutes during Thursday’s 4-0 win over Real Sociedad in the Europa League, and becomes the second player this week to make his first-team debut, following Amad’s introduction in Italy.
