South African Premier Division club Siwelele FC has completed the signing of Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu from Sekhukhune United, in a move aimed at bolstering their attacking options for the 2025/26 campaign, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The 28-year-old, who had fallen down the pecking order at Babina Noko, was strongly linked with an exit after struggling to cement his place under head coach Eric Tinkler. A reported misunderstanding with the Sekhukhune boss saw him relegated to train with the club’s Diski Challenge team, further fueling speculation about his future.
Initial discussions explored a potential loan deal with Golden Arrows and Siwelele, but both parties eventually settled for a permanent transfer. Despite signing a two-year contract extension last season — keeping him at Sekhukhune until June 2027 — uncertainty had lingered, with Ohizu also coming close to joining Algerian giants MC Alger before talks collapsed.
Ohizu, who joined Sekhukhune in 2020 from Jomo Cosmos (now in the ABC Motsepe League), leaves after a solid spell where he registered 30 goals and three assists in 117 appearances across all competitions.
The forward, known for his pace, physicality, and eye for goal, will now look to rejuvenate his career at Siwelele FC, where he has signed a deal expected to run through 2027.
