Shooting Stars opened their 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign with a 2-1 victory over newly promoted Inter Lagos at the Adamasingba Stadium on Friday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Oluyole Warriors took the lead in the 15th minute through Lucky Emmanuel, but Inter Lagos quickly responded as Damilare Adigun equalised seven minutes later.
Shooting Stars restored their advantage in the second minute of first-half added time after Sodiq Ibrahim converted from the penalty spot to give the hosts a 2-1 lead at the break.
Inter Lagos pushed for an equaliser after the restart, but Shooting Stars remained resolute to secure maximum points in their opening fixture of the season.
The hosts also enjoyed the better share of possession, recording 58 percent and registering 11 shots, including four on target. Inter Lagos managed five shots, with only one finding the target.
The result gives Shooting Stars an early boost in the new campaign, while Inter Lagos will hope to respond positively in their next fixture.
