Shooting Stars beat Beyond Limit to lift pre season tournament title

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan have emerge champions of the 2024 Optima Energy Gold Cup at Ikenne on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Oluyole Warriors defeated Beyond Limit 2-0 to win the 12th edition of the cup final played at the Remo Stars Stadium.

With the two sides getting a fair share of chances after the half hour mark, 3SC got a penalty after Sodiq brought down Olaniyi Fasanmi who's put through on goal by Utin on 32 minute.

Aliyu Abubakar stepped up and converted the spot kick to give the Ibadan side the lead.

Despite subsequent attempts to score by Beyond Limit, Shooting defended well to keep the score at 1-0 as the two teams headed to the locker room.

The second half however started quiet on a not too good note for Shooting as they had to play with ten men from the 47th minute after Taye Muritala was given the matching order.

Beyond Limit took control of the game with various attempts to score, but 3SC remained resolute until the 72nd minute when Desmond Ojietefian heading the second goal.

10-men Shooting Stars Sports couldn't be shaken despite more push for a goal by Beyond Limit as it ended 2-0.

Shooting Stars Sports Club take home two million naira while Beyond Limit take one million naira.
