Newly promoted club Salernitana are looking to be one of the busiest sides during this transfer window, as the amaranto will need to heavily reinforce the squad with Serie A-caliber talent if they hope to avoid relegation after just one year.
As the Italian federation gave the temporary ok to the club to compete in Serie A after ownership troubles due to Claudio Lotito's conflict of interest (he was both Lazio and Salernitana's owner), Salernitana are now on the lookout to try to strengthen their offense, with the side looking to add a capable forward. In the last few days, multiple names were linked to them, including Simy, Tutino, Bonazzoli and Favilli, but now the new face at the top of the list seems to be that of Peruvian international Gianluca Lapadula.
Lapadula, who currently plays for Benevento, was relegated from Serie A last season after an underwhelming campaign. Various clubs were linked to the Italian-Peruvian in the last few weeks, but Salernitana could offer him the chance to stay in Serie A for at least another season and that could be the trump card for them.
We'll see what Lapadula decides to do in the next few weeks, as Salernitana continue their search for a main striker.
