Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Manchester United has unquestionably made Juventus a lesser team on the pitch.
Juve is Italy's most popular team, yet despite having won the most Serie A championships, they trail the Milan giants in continental success.
The Old Lady, who last won the European Cup in 1996, reached the finals of the Champions League in 2015 and 2017, and once Ronaldo came to Turin, hopes were high that they might go one better with the competition's all-time leading scorer in their assault.
Since Ronaldo's arrival, they have failed to go past the quarter-finals, and have been eliminated in the last 16 by Lyon and Porto in the last two seasons.
Juve also lost their way domestically during his tenure, falling 13 points behind league leaders Inter Milan last season under new coach Andrea Pirlo and barely qualifying for the Champions League on the penultimate day of the season because Napoli lost to Verona at home.
However, Ronaldo may argue that this was a result of the Italian giants' deteriorating standards, not his own.
In each of the previous three seasons, Juventus has changed managers, only to return to the same place by re-appointing Massimiliano Allegri.
Last season, Ronaldo still had the most goals in Serie A, beating out Romelu Lukaku, who joined Chelsea for £97 million last month.
He also went back in time at Euro 2020, winning the Golden Boot despite only appearing in four games as Portugal crashed out in the last 16.
