According to a study issued by the country's football association on Thursday, the coronavirus epidemic has caused earnings in Italian professional football to plummet by one billion euros ($1.17 billion).

According to the study, overall losses in the professional game more than quadrupled from 412 million euros at the end of the 2018/19 fiscal year to 878 million euros the next year.
