Speaking out from Danish national Euro 2021 training camp, 29-year old box-to-box midfielder Christian Eriksen, who, throughout last season, managed to climb his way back into Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte's picks, commented upon the recent parting between Italian club and former Juventus and Chelsea gaffer himself:

"After having lived a very special moment, by winning Serie A title and celebrating together, it was kind of a shock, getting to know about him leaving, since I learnt from the media, like everyone else outside the team. We've been good friends all the time: we just weren't always eye to eye when it came to the philosophy of football. Anyway, it was definitely unexpected, since we had just won such an important title.

I don't actually know what happened in January, but I started getting much more game time. The city derby? Maybe, but I think it was more of a turning point for how the situation was perceived outside our ranks. My future position? I'd like my duties to consist more in supporting the frontline, and playing as an attacking midfielder, than standing before the defence, and be allowed to move less across the lines".
