On his fourth tenure as Genoa first-team manager, 57-year old Italian trainer Davide Ballardini has allegedly agreed with Il Grifone top brass over a deal extension, furthering a year longer its current June 2022 deadline.

While the official announcement is yet to be made by the club, Ballardini was rewarded for the thorough job he made last season, by picking the team in a very troublesome ranking status, and, supported by an overall rather poor roster, bringing Genoa to avoid relegation much before the end of the league.

Across his career, Ballardini also trained Lazio, Cagliari, Bologna, Palermo, Delfino Pescara, and Sambenedettese, besides having been part of AC Milan youth area coaching staff, from 1999 to 2002.
