Former Inter director Marco Branca insists fans must ‘be prepared for painful sales’ like Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku and reveals when they tried to sign Lionel Messi.
The Belgian striker’s mural outside San Siro was defaced and a message released by Inter ultras complaining he was “going to your knees for money” by accepting the €115m transfer to Stamford Bridge.
“I think there needs to be a step up from the fans. They have to be prepared for painful sales, because they can happen, and in this situation I see no other way out,” Branca told Radio Sportiva.
“Maybe this could be an opportunity for the supporters to cheer Inter on always and regardless of the situation, especially now that there are so many difficulties.”
