Serie A: Cyriel Dessers under fire for poor show in Italy

Published on: 26 September 2022

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers poor shows for Cremonese this season has made few to doubt his abilities as the former KRC Genk forward still without a goal for his new side, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

After emerging the top scorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, many expected the striker to be of the the top goal contender in the Italian Serie A this season but unfortunately after 7 games, he has just an assist to his name without any goal.

Reacting to third poor form is Italian football expert and lawyer Domenico La Marca who has expressed his disappointment in the scoring output of Nigerian forward since he joined Serie A outfit Cremonese.

“Honestly, I expected more from Cyriel Dessers, a forward I have followed since who played in Heracles Almelo, who I believe may be the technical leader of a Cremonese who needs his goals.”

With three goals from three games for Genk in August, Dessers had shown he was ready to continue his prolific goalscoring run of 2022, but it has been tough for the former Heracles Almelo man to adapt to the Italian Serie A despite starting all of Cremonese 7 Serie A games this season.

After netting one of Nigeria's goal in their 2-2 draw with Algeria B on Friday, Dessers will hope he gets his scoring boots back when Cremonese visits Lecce this Sunday.
