AC Milan manager, Stefano Pioli, has thrown his support behind Samuel Chukwueze, expressing confidence in the winger's potential to thrive at the San Siro despite initial challenges, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Chukwueze marked his Serie A scoring debut during AC Milan's 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona on Sunday.
Coming on as a substitute, the Nigerian international swiftly found the net to seal the visitors' win.
Pioli, speaking after the match, lauded Chukwueze's performance and emphasized his belief that the player will improve with more game time.
“It’s the story of a foreign player who comes to play in a difficult and complicated league, where the demands are certainly different from those he had at Villarreal. He is putting a lot of will and effort into trying to do the best possible,” Pioli told DAZN.
“I believe that too many times judgments are rushed and there is no time to wait. They are guys who come from a different mentality, another way of living and training, another way of playing”
The AC Milan boss stressed the need for patience in evaluating players like Chukwueze, who come from different football cultures and training methods.
Despite facing criticism for inconsistent displays since his move from Villarreal last summer, Pioli remains optimistic about Chukwueze's contributions to the team's success.
