By Rahman Osman Follow on twitter @iamrahmanosman Ghana attacker Jordan Ayew could not hide his gratitude to Ivorian head coach Harve Renard after a career defining performance against his former employers Olympique Marseille at the Valedrome.
Ayew, 23, produced arguably his best performance of his career with two goals and an assist on his return to the Valedrome.
The former Olympique Marseille youngster all but ended Marseille's slim hopes of catching league leaders Lyon after ceasing the opportunity to turn on his best performance yet in a Lorient shirt.
Jordan opened the scoring with an unstoppable strike earlier on in the first half and soon turned provider for the second goal for his side.
But it was his second goal and Lorient fourth of the night that silenced his critics and raised his stock after picking the ball from his own half and leaving defenders for dead before showing the calmness that even Lionel Messi would have been proud off to lift it over the helpless Mandanda in post for Marseille.
'”I have been working hard for some years now to get to this level and gradually its coming,” Jordan told BeIN sports after the game
The 23 year old was quick to acknowledge the contribution of Herve Renard in his career who offered him the opportunity to play football on a consistent basis when he took him on loan to Sochaux last season.
“I would like to appreciate Herve Renard because he was the one who put me on the professional football path and I thank him for that.”
The two goals copped up yesterday means the youngest of the Ayew brothers has now scored an incredible 11 goals this season in Ligue 1 and just six goals shy off the almighty Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is on 17 goals but has played two more games.
