Senegal head coach Souleymane Diallo has described his team’s opening Group D clash against Nigeria at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) as a challenging and pivotal fixture, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The defending champions are set to begin their title defence on Tuesday, facing a strong Super Eagles B side in what is expected to be one of the group’s standout encounters.
Diallo admitted the difficulty of the challenge but maintained faith in his squad’s readiness. He also called on Senegalese supporters to rally behind the team as they look to start their campaign on a positive note.
“It will be a tough and decisive match against Nigeria, but we are determined,” Diallo said.
“We understand the expectations of our people and are prepared to build on the work we’ve done during our preparations. We hope for the full support of the Senegalese people to achieve our goals in this tournament.”
