Scottish Premiership: Cyriel Dessers on target as St. Mirren hold Rangers

Published on: 27 April 2025

Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers continues his goal-scoring form for Rangers FC as the visitors snatched a point in the Scottish Premiership four-goal thriller clash against St. Mirren in Paisley, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Barry Ferguson's side saw Cyriel Dessers and Nico Raskin each find the back of the net. However, St Mirren proved resilient, twice responding with equalizing goals to secure a draw in front of their roaring home fans.

Within the match's opening minutes, Dessers presented the first threat, unleashing a powerful shot towards the near post that St Mirren's goalkeeper, Hemming, managed to push wide. Just thirteen minutes later, Dessers found himself with another opportunity, set up by a well-placed pass from Diomande, but his subsequent strike sailed above the crossbar.

As the first half drew to a close, Rangers finally broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute with Dessers converting a well-executed finish. Raskin's vision in spotting the striker within the box proved crucial, allowing Dessers to demonstrate his strength in holding off a St Mirren defender before calmly turning and slotting a low shot into the bottom corner, marking his 24th goal of the season.
