Saudi Arabia cruise to title

Zarqa: Saudi Arabia won the 2019 West Asian Football Federation U-15 Boys title with a 3-1 win over hosts Jordan on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia, who had defeated Syria 3-0 in their opening second round league match on Sunday, turned on the power after going behind to Adham Alrefai's 23rd minute strike.


Saleh Ali Barnawi scored the equaliser in the 34th minute and further strikes by Abdulaziz Saud Alelewai (55th) and Ali Abdulraoof (63rd) secured Saudi Arabia the title.

Jordan will meet Syria on Thursday to decide the runners-up in a competition where the three group winners from the first round squared off in the second round-robin competition.

In the fourth to sixth place pool, Iraq had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Oman and will now have to wait till the final day's action to know their position.

Oman will play Bahrain, who lost 1-0 to Iraq on Sunday, on Thursday.

Kuwait, meanwhile, sealed a seventh place finish with a 2-0 win over Palestine, with Ali Alsawalhi (60th) and Mahdi Assi (75th) the goalscorers.

Palestine will play Lebanon, who lost 2-1 to Kuwait on Sunday, in their final tie on Thursday.
