Sandro Mazzola, the celebrated Italian footballer who helped the Azzurri win the European Championship in 1968, has died aged 83.
Mazzola spent his entire playing career with Inter, representing the Milan club from 1961 to 1977. During that time, he won the Italian league title four times and lifted the European Cup twice.
His greatest achievement came with Italy, as the national team secured the European Championship in 1968. Mazzola also featured prominently in the 1970 World Cup, when Italy reached the final.
Widely regarded as one of the defining players of his generation, Mazzola remained entirely loyal to Inter throughout his 16-year career.
