San Siro is marking its centenary after opening exactly 100 years ago on 19 September 1926.
The famous Italian stadium has been the home of Milan’s two leading football clubs, Inter and Milan.
It was originally regarded solely as Milan’s ground. After the Second World War, however, the Rossoneri agreed to share the stadium with Inter.
The venue was renamed Giuseppe Meazza in 1979. Although Giuseppe Meazza is more closely associated with Inter as a player, he also represented Milan during his career.
San Siro has undergone two major redevelopment projects, with reconstruction work carried out in the 1950s and again in the 1980s.
