Bukayo Saka has moved ahead of Ian Wright in Arsenal’s list of players whose goals and assists have earned the club points in the Premier League, after his decisive contribution against Aston Villa last weekend took his total to 82.
Saka’s goal secured victory for Arsenal over Aston Villa and also lifted the young forward beyond the mark set by Wright, one of the club’s standout players during the final years of the 20th century.
Wright’s goals and assists were responsible for 80 Arsenal points in the Premier League. His total can no longer increase, while Saka, who has represented the club since 2018, continues to add to his tally.
The statistic measures the number of league points Arsenal gained in matches in which a player either scored or provided an assist. On that basis, Saka is now fourth in the club’s rankings, having moved one place above Wright.
Only three Arsenal players remain ahead of him. Thierry Henry leads the way, with his goals and assists bringing the club 160 points. Dennis Bergkamp is second on 112, while Robin van Persie occupies third place with 92.
Saka’s 82-point total leaves him 10 behind Van Persie and 30 short of Bergkamp. Henry remains well clear at the top of the standings, but Saka is now the highest-ranked player among those still able to extend their contribution to Arsenal’s Premier League points total.
The latest landmark underlines the impact Saka has had since joining the club’s senior side in 2018. His winning contribution against Aston Villa not only gave Arsenal three points last weekend but also moved him beyond Wright in a ranking featuring several of the most celebrated attacking players in the club’s history.
Wright’s position has changed only because of Saka’s progress: the former Arsenal forward remains on 80 points, while Saka’s total has risen to 82. With Henry, Bergkamp and Van Persie the only players above him, Saka now occupies fourth place in the list of Arsenal players whose goals and assists have produced Premier League points for the club.
