Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala will play no further part in the side’s campaign at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, owing to an injury.
The disclosure was made on the official Twitter handle of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on Wednesday afternoon.
Oshoala was involved in a tackle with a South African defender when they met on Monday but shrugged it off and continued to play before she was replaced by Francisca Ordega in the 81st minute.
The tweet read: “Sad news from @NGSuper_Falcons camp: Top striker @AsisatOshoala is out of the ongoing #WAFCON2022. She sustained a Grade 2 Medial Collateral Ligament strain in the game against South Africa. She is due back in Spain on Thursday. Get well quick Asisat!
Oshoala’s just concluded club football season was plagued with injuries that led to her having a lengthy spell on the sideline at Barcelona.
She also missed the WAFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast in February.
