"?Ryan Giggs has admitted he may need to drop down to the Championship to find a club that shares his ambition following his failure to get the Swansea job.

Giggs was in talks with the Swansea hierarchy over potentially taking the manager's role but was turned down for American coach Bob Bradley.

And the former Manchester United assistant manager is not setting his sights solely on Premier League management despite his reputation, admitting that he may well have to start lower down.

Speaking to the "?BBC, the 42-year-old said: "It doesn't have to be Premier League. It's got to be a club that matches my ambitions. As a player I was a winner and I want to be the same as a manager.

"Whether it be dropping down to the Championship, whether it be in the Premier League, I've got no preference really. It has to be the right club and have the same ambitions and visions as I do."

The Welshman also spoke of his attempt to get the managerial position at Swansea, claiming that things didn't quite go as planned.

"I always said that I'd be open to anything that looked interesting and Swansea have done so well over the last ten years in the last Premier League were one of those clubs. They asked me to have a chat with them, I did that and unfortunately it just didn't quite work out."

When asked if anything in particular had hindered his chances of landing the job, Giggs added: "A few things really. They probably already had an eye on Bob Bradley, the American owners, and for whatever reason it just didn't quite work out.

"He's obviously got experience, he's been a manager for 30 years now. It's going to be difficult because of the position they're in but when a new manager comes in sometimes you get a lift, different ideas and a bit of freshness."
