Ronaldo scores brace to down Dortmund

Cristiano Ronaldo added two goals after Gareth Bale's opener to help Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in Champions League Group H on Tuesday.

Dortmund should have been handed a penalty in the 14th minute when Maximilian Philipp's was pushed off the line with the help of Sergio Ramos' hands, but the defenders part in the clearance went unseen.

And four minutes later, Bale had Madrid in front when he calmly met Dani Carvajal's cross with his foot to volley it into the back of the net, leaving Dortmund keeper Roman Burki no chance.

Bale then de1livered a low cross to set up Ronaldo to net Madrid's second goal five minutes into the second half.

But less than four minutes later, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang beat Ramos to a Gonzalo Castro to reduce Dortmund's deficit to 2-1.

In search of an equalizer, Dortmund put on Julian Weigl, Mahmoud Dahoud and Christian Pulisic, but Ronaldo ended their hopes by firing in his second goal past Burki in the 79th minute.
