Roma defeated Inter Milan 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico to preserve their perfect start to the Serie A season.
Both sides had won their opening four league matches without dropping a point before meeting in Rome. Roma took control early, with Manu Kone opening the scoring after six minutes.
Kone doubled the home side’s advantage in the 37th minute, leaving Roma 2-0 ahead at half-time. Inter Milan responded shortly after the restart when Lautaro Martinez pulled a goal back in the 46th minute.
The visitors could not find an equaliser, however, and Roma held on for victory. The match finished 2-1, with the score recorded as 1-0 at half-time.
Mile Svilar started in goal for Roma, behind a defence of Gianluca Mancini, Leonardo Balerdi, Mario Hermoso and Wesley Franca. Brian Cristante and Manu Kone featured in midfield, while Nahuel Molina, Paulo Dybala, Matias Soule and Donyell Malen completed the starting line-up.
Roma’s substitutes were Emanuele Lulli, Giorgio De Marzi, Niccolo Pisilli, Daniele Gilardi, Santiago Castro, Konstantinos Koulierakis, Devyne Rensch, Marten de Roon, Evan Ndicka, Pierluigi Gollini, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Rodrigo Mora.
Inter Milan selected Josep Martinez in goal, with Yann Bisseck, Manuel Akanji and Alessandro Bastoni in defence. Andy Diouf, Nicolo Barella, Piotr Zielinski, Curtis Jones and Federico Dimarco were listed in midfield, with Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez in attack.
Inter’s substitutes were Leonardo Bovo, Mattia Mosconi, Francesco Esposito, Ange-Yoan Bonny, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Benjamin Pavard, Ivan Provedel, Raffaele Di Gennaro, Luis Henrique III and Aleksandar Stankovic.
