Rimba Star ‘A’ victorious in NFABD’s Under-12 tournament

Bandar Seri Begawan: RIMBA Star ‘A’ won the Under-12 tournament at the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) House’s Artificial Turf on Sunday.

Dash Junior FT were second, HS Family ‘A’ third and HS Family ‘C’ fourth.

The tournament was held for the second time, and the 16 teams were divided into four groups of four.

In the second round, the four teams finishing first played in one group, and the same applied for the teams finishing second, third and fourth.

FIFA Technical Consultant for Asia, Dato Yap Nyim Keong with Mohd Ateeq Hisham Zainal who scooped up the Best Player award.

Rimba Star ‘A’, who won their first round group, beat HS Family ‘C’ and Dash Junior FC 1-0 to clinch the title – with their other second round result a 2-0 loss to HS Family ‘A’.

Projek Ikan Pusu (PIP) A’s Mohd Ateeq Hisham Zainal won the Best Player Award while Muara Spurs’ Md Haziq Waqqiuddin Haji Azrini won the Best Goalkeeper Award.

Meanwhile, Wazif Mateen Haji Zamri won the Best Young Referee Award.

Young referees and real-time updates with photos, videos and results were among the new features of the tournament.

The referees, all under the age of 20, have experience at school-level – but this was their first time on duty at an NFABD event.

Newly appointed FIFA Technical Consultant for Asia, Dato Yap Nyim Keong, presented the awards to the winners.
