Cote d’Ivoire manager Herve Renard has called for “maximum concentration” as the Elephants prepare to face Ghana in a pivotal 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday.

The Group C fixture will be played at the Stade de la Paix de Bouake at 19:00 GMT on 24 September 2026, with pressure building ahead of a meeting between two of Africa’s leading football nations.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference, Renard acknowledged the quality of the visitors and warned that Cote d’Ivoire could not expect an easy contest.

“This is a major fixture in African football. Ghana are a good team,” said the French coach.

“The match will never be easy for anyone. Against such a rival, we will need maximum concentration from the opening whistle and must stick to our principles of play.

“Nothing will be handed to us, but we have prepared for this match with great discipline and a firm intention to impose our rhythm at home.”

The encounter in Bouake is expected to produce an intense contest between Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana, with both sides facing a demanding test at the start of the qualification campaign.

Cote d’Ivoire will look to turn Renard’s emphasis on discipline and focus into a decisive performance in front of their home supporters as they seek an important opening victory.
