Rayon Sports of Rwanda captain, Abdul Rwatubyaye, is upbeat the side can create a big upset by eliminating Enyimba from this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The Gikundiro will face Enyimba in the second leg of the of the quarter-finals at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba on Sunday.

“Enyimba is one of the best clubs in Africa. We respect them but we will have to show that we are Rayon Sports, and can do better against big teams,” Rwatubyaye told CAFOnline.com.

“The squad is okay and everyone is looking sharp and wants to help the team. With such commitment I believe we will survive in Aba. We are capable of beating any team having shown that in Kenya against Gor Mahia. We will do our best to win and progress to the last four.

Rayon’s campaign only came to light after a 2-1 win over Kenyan champions Gor Mahia away in Nairobi in the penultimate match of the group stage, under tutelage of Brazilian trainer Roberto Oliveira Goncalves de Calmo, who replaced Ivan Minnaert midway.

A hard-fought lone goal victory over Young Africans of Tanzania in the ultimate match will later earn them a historic place at the last eight, becoming the first Rwandan club to achieve that milestone.

“Our journey was very tough. Many of our fans gave us no chance to go through. But the draw away against USM Alger and the win over Gor Mahia really brought us back into contention,”he added.

“Being among the quarter- finalists is an indication that Rayon Sports is a good team and on the right track.

“I want to help Rayon Sports to reach semis finals and I’m looking forward to that. Enyimba cannot stand between my dream. We will give it our all.”
