Injured Nigeria Olympic team defender Segun Oduduwa has sent a goodwill message to the team as they head to the Rio Olympics next month.
Oduduwa suffered a long-term knee injury in training which has ruled him out of the Rio Olympics.
The Nath Boys of Lagos star is presently in Doha, Qatar, to undergo corrective surgery on his dislocated knee, but he has not allowed his personal setback to stop him from wishing Dream Team VI the very best in Brazil.
“I want to use this medium to wish the team led by coach Samson Siasia the very best in Rio. I believe they will go on to fly Nigeria’s flag high in Brazil,” Oduduwa said from his treatment table in Qatar.
“Nigeria should come first and I strongly believe the team have what it takes to go all the way to strike Gold in Rio, 20 years after the original Dream Team first achieved this feat.”
Oduduwa also commended the medical staff of the sports ministry led by Abdulkadir Muazu for making it possible for him to fly out to Qatar for a major surgery so as to be back in action before long.
The Nath Boys central defender was one of the stars who ensured Nigeria qualified for the Rio Olympics after they clinched the U23 AFCON in Senegal in December.
