PSG secure first option on Braga’s promising young midfielder Mario Dorgeles

Paris Saint-Germain have paid €3.3m to secure a priority option on Braga attacking midfielder Mario Dorgeles.

The agreement puts the Paris club at the front of the queue should the Ivory Coast international leave the Portuguese side, although it does not signal an imminent transfer to PSG.

The deal is understood to have been facilitated by the increasingly close relationship between PSG and Braga. Qatar Sports Investments, the fund that owns PSG, holds almost 30% of Braga’s shares.

That connection helped the clubs reach an understanding over Dorgeles, who is 22 and joined Braga from Nordsjaelland for €11m in the summer of 2025.

PSG are continuing to plan for the future and regard Dorgeles as a promising young player. However, the terms of the agreement give them first refusal rather than committing them to signing him immediately.

Dorgeles enjoyed a productive 2025/26 campaign, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. He has had a less prominent role so far this season, starting only five of Braga’s eight matches.

The midfielder remains under contract with SC Braga until June 2029, meaning the Portuguese club retain control of his playing future unless PSG decide to exercise their priority.

Braga’s next fixture is against Sporting CP in the eighth round of the Portuguese league.
