Preseason Friendly: Bayelsa United pip Akwa United in Uyo

Bayelsa United edged Akwa United in a Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL preseason friendly match at the Nest of Champions training pitch on Saturday.

Newly promoted side, Bayelsa United  defeated their host and former NPFL champion by a goal to nil.

The goal came in the 12th minute of the game through a cutting edge free kick by Endurance Ebedebiri to put the Yenegoa side ahead.

The Orange Boys couldn't change the score despite several attempts at goal as the score remained the same at the end of 90 minute.

Meanwhile, Coach Ayodeji Ayeni revealed that there was nothing to worry about the loss adding that it was a good game for his boys and that some positive lessons have been learnt from the game that will further impart in their preparations ahead of the new season.

"It was a good game for us because the outcome has given us something to reflect on as we continue our preparations ahead of the new season.

"The essence of the game was not all about having a positive result but to ensure we give as many players as possible the opportunity to play and we are happy that we were able to assess their performance during the game.

Akwa United have not failed to get a win in three friendly matches after  stalemate situations against Rangers International and Abia Warriors in November.
