Aston Villa had limited options in preventing Jack Grealish from joining Manchester City. As club boss Christian Purslow explains through the club's own media, there was a fixed transfer fee of the equivalent of 118 million euros in the England international's contract.

Purslow says Grealish "directed us to trigger his release clause".

For the villa officials, this was a "very emotional moment," Purslow continued. The change was announced yesterday evening - the 25-year-old became the most expensive Premier League transfer of all time.
