Liverpool central defender Nat Phillips has allegedly remained ‘under consideration’ at the Premier League club Southampton this summer.

The 24-year-old star was linked with a transfer to the South Coast earlier in the market and could still replace the Denmark international Jannik Vestergaard after he joined Leicester City.

Nat rose to prominence last campaign amidst adversity and the Reds are said to be reluctant to allow the centre-half to leave on the cheap. According to a recent report from The Athletic, they would be interested in a loan move for the player.

The report sates that Liverpool would demand a sum in the region of £12-£15m to sell the former Stuttgart loanee.

Last season he made 17 top-flight appearances. Rated at £7.2 million and under contract until June 2023 at Anfield (Transfermarkt), allowing him to leave on loan with a view to a future sum would be beneficial to Liverpool.
