The Egyptian soccer organization claimed Monday that Liverpool has refused to release Mohamed Salah for the country's next World Cup qualifying matches because of coronavirus limitations.
Salah would have to quarantine upon his return from Cairo and miss two Premier League games since Egypt is on Britain's red list.
On September 2, Egypt will play Angola in Cairo before heading to Franceville to face Gabon three days later.
Salah, the Premier League's Golden Boot winner twice, tested positive for the virus on a trip to Cairo in November to attend his brother's wedding. He was supposed to play for the national team against Togo at the moment.
