According to Nick Ames and Sean Ingle of The Guardian, Argentina's Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero may face disciplinary punishment when they return to Tottenham Hotspur for playing in South America's World Cup qualifiers against the club's wishes.

In Sao Paulo on Sunday, Lo Celso and Romero were at the heart of an altercation when Brazilian health officials halted Argentina's match with Brazil in the seventh minute. Officials charged the Spurs duo, as well as Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia, with lying to immigration inspectors about their travel history and violating the country's quarantine regulations.

However, the two had already irritated their bosses before the match was called off since they were not allowed to join Argentina for their September international games. Tottenham, with the support of the Premier League, opted not to let Lo Celso and Romero fly in order to avoid the obligatory 10-day quarantine upon their return to the UK.

The travel plans for Lo Celso, Romero, and Sanchez are presently unknown, since they are scheduled to play for their respective countries on Thursday. They will miss Saturday's Premier League encounter against Crystal Palace, but they may also miss a Europa League match against Rennes on September 16 and a Premier League clash with Chelsea (Sept. 19).
