Patrick Bamford has snubbed Tottenham Hotspur interest to sign a new five-year contract at Leeds United. Reports from the Telegraph in the week suggested that the Yorkshire-based club wanted Bamford to sign on the dotted line in order to ward off interest from Spurs.

The 27-year-old, who was incidentally the highest scoring Englishman behind Harry Kane in the Premier League last season with 17 goals, was entering the final year of his deal.

However, the opportunity to sign the former Chelsea man is now over, and Bamford has explained why that is.

Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account, the Englishman said: “There’s not many times in my career as settled as I am now, so it was important for me to get this tied down and concentrate on the season ahead."

“Things started off a bit sticky, I had the injury and stuff and I didn’t click with the fans straight away, but once I did get into it and settled, I think I’ve improved no end under Marcelo Bielsa and I’ve really enjoyed my time here, I’ve built up the rapport with the fans now and I’m enjoying every minute of it.”
