Despite the difficulties in talks, Manchester United is still anxious to sign Bruno Fernandes to a new deal, according to The Mirror.

The Portuguese midfielder, who joined the club in the second part of the 2019/20 season, was a driving force behind the team's aim to finish in the Top 4. Last season, the Portuguese international made 58 appearances for the club, scoring 28 goals and assisting on another 17 occasions.

In total, the 27-year-old has 43 goals and 25 assists in 83 games for the Old Trafford club in the previous year and a half — outstanding figures for anybody in global football.

According to The Sun (via Mirror), the 27-year-old may be handed a deal worth £300,000 per week, but the midfielder has been slow to accept it due to a number of issues.

According to the Mirror, Fernandes' agent, Miguel Pinto, wanted to include a release option in his contract, but the Old Trafford club rejected it almost immediately.
