PREMIER - Liverpool, Henderson set to stay at Anfield

From Liga Financial, Liverpool are reportedly planning to open contract talks with skipper Jordan Henderson. The 31-year-old midfielder has played 392 games for the Merseyside Reds since arriving from Sunderland in 2011, however, he was restricted to just 28 appearances last season following to a groin injury, which almost saw him miss Euro 2020.

Henderson’s current contract at Anfield is set to expire in June 2023, however, according to The Mirror, the Merseyside Reds are ready to open talks over an extension.

The report suggests that the Merseyside Reds could hand the experienced midfielder the opportunity to finish his career at Anfield, with his leadership qualities on and off the field valued by the team.

Henderson has made a return from injury to feature on five occasions for England at Euro 2020, coming off the bench in their games with the Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine, Italy and Denmark.
