As Leicester City saw Wesley Fofana's season crumble after he recently broke his leg in a friendly, Brendan Rodgers is reportedly seeking his substitute. In a new report by British sport outlet TalkSport it seems that the replacement targeted by the Foxes is Dane defender Jannik Vestergaard.

Vestergaard, who is already familiar with English football, as he currently plays for Southampton, shined during Euro 2020 for a Danish team that reached the semi-finals of the competition eventually won by Italy. The Saints seem to have set a price in the range of 15-20M GBP, but Leicester are hopeful that can negotiate to bring it down, given that the defender is a free agent at the end of the 2021/2022 season. Vestergaard, previously linked with West Ham, had an outstanding season for Southampton, so if he indeed leaves, the club will be hard-pressed to find a suitable substitute, with the transfer market window winding down.

We'll see how the situation unfolds and if the Dane will indeed play at King Power Stadium this season.
