Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that Sir Alex Ferguson played a key role in his return to Manchester United after spending three years at Juventus.
Speaking to MUTV, the 36-year-old said: “For me, Sir Alex Ferguson is like a father in football for me. He helped me a lot, he taught me many things and he was the main key for me to be in the position that I am, that I signed for Manchester United.”
Ronaldo was brought into the world limelight as a teenager from Sporting Lisbon and he went on to make 292 appearances for the club, scoring 118 goals between 2003 and 2009.
The former Real Madrid man heads to Old Trafford twelve years after departing.
