In a new report by Sport1 German journalist Patrick Berger, Leicester City are now the favorite to land Turkish defender Ozan Kabak.
Kabak, who is under contract with newly relegated side Schalke 04, is trying to find a new accommodation, as he doesn't want to play in the German second division. According to the report, Schalke gave him one week to find a new club, and Leicester City now seem the front runners to sign the Turkish international. Kabak is already familiar with the Premier League, has he was at Liverpool last season on loan, where he made 14 total appearances as the Reds were in dire straits after standout defender Virgil Van Dijk went down with an injury. However, it doesn't seem likely Liverpool is interested in Kabak, and Leicester have already started talks to bring him back to England, this time on a permanent basis.
Schalke are reportedly asking for 15M Euros, a significantly lower sum than the initial 25M, something that could further facilitate Kabak's arrival to the Foxes. Crystal Palace and Newcastle were recently linked with the player as well, but it seems that their interest has not materialized in any talks, while Leicester are the only ones that are taking concrete steps to sign Kabak. We'll see if he indeed joint Leicester in the following days, as the clock is ticking on the Turkish defender.
Advertisement#S04 have given Ozan Kabak one more week off to clarify his future. Leicester City is leading the race to land the 21-year-old defender. “There are enquiries for Ozan”, Schalke sports director Rouven Schröder confirms, “but no official bid yet!” Asking price €15m. ? #Foxes ?
