Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claimed his team's "dreams were fulfilled" after the Reds beat Burnley 2-0 on Saturday to mark the return of a packed house at Anfield.

Liverpool's perfect start to the season continued with goals from Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane on either side of half-time, giving them six points from their first two games.

"Everybody was really looking forward to this football fest today and nobody leaves this place with any kind of disappointment," said Klopp. "Our dreams were fulfilled atmosphere-wise."

An emotional pre-match homage was made to former players who passed away during the last 17 months, as well as Andrew Devine, the 97th victim of the Hillsborough catastrophe, who died in July, in front of the first maximum crowd since March 2020.

Liverpool won the Premier League after a 30-year wait, during which the coronavirus epidemic required football to be played behind closed doors.
